JvineyardKINGS HILL CELLARS – where we source outstanding grapes or you bring your own grapes

Our goal is to offer our Members several different varietal selections each year, so that over time they can round out their wine cellars and experience a wide variety of winemaking. We source our grapes from meticulous local winegrowers who have a reputation for growing outstanding grapes that have made award-winning wines.

Available varietals will vary each year. Grapes must be contracted in advance and quantity is limited. Sign up is on a first come first serve basis. Members are welcome to assist in future varietal selection.

Sauvignon Blanc:

Herrick Vineyard , Russian River Valley AVA, is planted in sandy loam soil near Foppiano vineyard where it enjoys cool foggy mornings.

Chardonnay:

Indindoli Vineyard, Russian River Valley AVA, creates a classic full-flavored Chardonnay. We have been making this Chardonnay for several years with excellent results.

Pinot Noir:

Sentinel Oak VineyardSonoma Valley AVA, directly north of Sonoma’s town square on a south facing vineyard at 1000 feet elevation. They have lovely Dijon clone Pinot vines grown in the Burgundy style (3’x5″ spacing with lots of leaf and fruit drop). Classic Pinot flavor!

Claret field blend:

Sentinel Oak VineyardSonoma Valley AVA, is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vines planted in a ratio of 85%, 12% and 3% which are harvested together to yield this classic “right bank” blend of Bordeaux grapes – similar to Saint-Émilion and Pomerol wines.

Malbec:

Red Hills Vineyard, Red Hills AVALake County Velvety, inky with a huge mid pallet makes this full-bodied wine ideal for blending but also excellent by itself.

Cabernet Sauvignon:

Mountain View Ranch, Dry Creek Valley AVA, with its northeastern exposure in mid-Dry Creek Valley is a source of arguably the finest Cabernet grapes in Sonoma County with profound and sultry aromas of black cherry, blackberry and vanilla, with subtle hints of green olive on the palate.

Syrah:

Beagle Ridge Vineyard, Bennett Valley AVA, comes from well-drained, westward sloping hillsides in the cool growing climate of the Bennett Valley. The grapes typically make a full-bodied wine with deep, dark reddish purple color and a long finish; it is usually characterized by berry aromas, with hints of leather, dark fruit and pepper.

Zinfandel (Two to choose from):

Westside Road Vineyard, Dry Creek Valley AVA, near Healdsburg. 90+ year-old head-pruned Zinfandel vines which yield low volumes of wine with intense berry aromas and luscious fruit flavor.

Sentinel Oak VineyardSonoma Valley AVA. Planted in 2001 and managed for maximum intensity classic full-berry essence, full bodied with a peppery after taste indicative of this classic varietal.

Petite Sirah:

Red Hill Vineyard,  Red Hill AVA, Lake County. Characteristically this wine had dense blackberry fruit character with high tannin level, good acidity and a spicy, plumy flavor.
